He really loves me!

On Memorial Day, David & I were going out for an early breakfast and I asked him to stop at a local nursery on the way. Several days before, I had been at the nursery buying some plants and spied several beautiful Bridal Veil Spirea bushes. I have wanted one of these babies for years and they were good size bushes and looked very healthy. We stopped and went to look. They were on SALE-WOOHOO! Only one problem....how do we get it home? We knew a lot of the tiny white flowers would be lost in transport which would be messy and the shrub itself was about 4 feet tall. Hmmmmm. I had a light bulb moment!!!! We would pay for the spirea, go on to breakfast, David would take me home and return to get the shrub.....in the Miata.... with the top down! One last request Sweetie.....will you take my camera with you when you return to pick up the shrub and take pictures because I will have to blog about this? I love this man! He worked Friday and Saturday in the yard & gardens and now he was going to spend part of Monday digging a hole and planting a spirea. My part of the bargain? I vacuumed out the inside of the Miata when he came back and was happy to do it! Thanks honey-you get a double gold star this week!!!
Eventually, it will look like this...
There was another reward for a hard day of work. Pork chops on the grill...Iowa style! (I brought this recipe back from my Cousins Reunion. Thank you Rita...she's a superb griller!!!)

What a sweet man you are married to! The plants are gorgeous...I can see why you have wanted one for so long. Are they a hearty perennial (for those of us in the northeast) or a tender perennial? Love your little red car too :)

What a guy ~ and he looks so happy about it too!
The bush goes well with the Miata...red & white are such a nice color combo...and it's so beautiful too!
What's the story behind cooking the pork chops on edge? There must be a reason....

Oh yes ~ dare I say it ~ GO RED WINGS!!

I was introduced to spirea only a few months ago at our local zoo - and I went nuts for them! Apparently they don't bloom as well down here in the heat/humidity, so I will admire yours instead. :)

Also curious about the pork chops "iowa style"...am reading this at work and the pictures sparked a discussion with my co-workers, LOL!

Those are BEAUTIFUL! Your hubby looked so cute in his red car with a big smile on his face. What a good sport to take pix too.
You silly girl...you ordered two items out of my "store" but forgot to enter your name in my giveaway. Don't forget to stop by and do that.
Anyway, thank you for boosting my confidence by placing an order. You are a sweetheart. I'll be mailing those out to you on Monday.
P.S. I'm pretty sure I owe you a refund on the postage. The one thing I forgot to do was confirm my bank account through Etsy so that Paypal can deposit straight over. So as soon as that takes place (they say it takes 2-3 days) I'll take care of that.
Thanks again Joyce,
Mary Lou

I still think you came out ahead in this bargin! This is such a favorite old time bush! My husband the tree planter will not let me have one of these or a snow ball or a peony. He says they attract ants. You planted your's in the middle of the yard. I may have to use your blog as evidence that this is possible! Your wedding boxes are so beautiful and timely for me. I have a shower to attend in just a few weeks. I think I will have to borrow this idea! Have a lovely week. Elizabeth
