We were really busy on days #2-4 and I didn't take many pictures.
Oooo, it's starting to look different here!
Here we are on Friday and the work is almost complete. I just have to get all of the china and glassware put back in their respective places. We also need to decide where we are hanging some new things and which things we're not keeping. In this before picture, you can see some of my pewter collection displayed on a handmade shelf.
Now of course I'm not disposing of my pewter...it's just time to change up for a bit. Here is the shelf today...
I love creamware but can't afford the real deal. I'm perfectly content with my pieces that have come from Marshall's, TJ Maxx or HomeGoods. The small planter on the bottom shelf was purchased from my blogging friend Deb of Garage Sale Gal and the cup and saucer on the top shelf was a gift from Elizabeth of Creative Breathing. I love the cream color against the new blue walls. It's so hard to tell in photos the exact color but this is the Valspar (Lowe's) paint chip...
Distant Valley is the color we chose.
I give up...it looks different in every picture. It's a blue-green color with a tad more blue than green. The lower part of the "wallpaper free" wall is painted in a Martha Stewart color called Popcorn...a soft off white.
I guess you're just going to have to stop by and see for yourself. I do love the color. It gives the dining room a cool, serene feeling which is good as we get the afternoon sun in that room. I promise to come back with more pictures once the room is totally set up.
David the painter comes highly recommended! Thanks Sweetie
While the painter was painting and I was trying to stay out of his hair, I got some work done on a baby gift for the daughter of a friend of ours. This little baby was born at 27 weeks and weighed only 2 pounds at birth. She was in the hospital until she worked her way up to four pounds and she now weighs a whopping 5 pounds. I waiting on sending a gift until we were sure she was doing good. Here is a peek of the name banner I am working on.....
I will show you the pictures of Hannah's banner once it is complete. (Boy, I'm saying that a lot, aren't I?)
I also decorated a simple black marble composition book for myself so that I can write down all of my directions for the projects I create using my Cricut Expression. I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Now all of the recipes will be in one place instead of written on tiny scraps of paper all over my studio! The papers I used, in case you're wondering, are from The Girl's Paperie and the line is called Kitsch.
Cricut Recipes...
Do you use a Cricut die cut machine? They are so much fun!
OK-back to reloading china. I'll be back soon.

Joyce,
What a great idea!!!! And the banner looks adorable..the color you picked for you top part of your room ( and the bottyom) are just beautiful!!!!!! I don't have an Expression yet....my neighbor wants me to go in halfsies....but then who has it???? We'll see! Might be a great Christmas gift this year, seeing as how I got nothing last year....LOL Sandy
Your dining room looks beautiful, a tranquil backdrop for your treasures. A bit Carl Larssen-y, if I'm spelling that right. Alicia would approve!
God bless baby Hannah and her family.
I love the wall color - it says, "relax. stay a while." And with the cream ware (which I'm starting to fall in love with myself) is wonderful up against the wall color.
Joyce - your crafts are so detail oriented! Where do you get the patience????? They're amazing.
The color looks amazing!!! ANd WOW I love Hannah's banner---I think you might need that cartridge :)
HMMMMMM are you asking if anyone has a Cricut machine because you want to create them one of those awesome recipe books-----I have a Cricut-----I'm just say'n---xoxoxox
Was so glad I got home a little early yesterday and got to see you! My mom just loves it when you visit :) Can't wait to start working on the wine glasses - thank you so much for them! Although Dan just rolled his eyes when I brought "more glass??" into the house :)

What a beautiful room, Joyce! Like you, our main rooms receive the afternoon sun...and we also have blue walls. You'll love yours...so calming and cool.
Love the banner...little Hannah is blessed!

Joy,
I just love that banner. Truly touches my heart. I can't wait to have time to get out my Cricut! I think you should sell your recipe book! One thing I have wondered it hoe you make the banner pieces. I can't figure out where to find it and I am crazy about banners! Love color on your wall. I am doing mine...hopefully soon. Trying to get Jud to go with me to the paint store...then my gal that helps me can paint while I am gone! Wishful thinking!!!
Big hugs,
Suz
hi joyce!
you are having quite the busy summer!
my dining room is a similar color -- spring morn by behr -- and i really like it a lot. very forgiving of my less-than-perfect painting skills. :)
love the pretty banner you made and the paper is fabulous!
every time i try to organize my recipes, i still end up keeping the scraps. they're now in an accordian folder. some were written by my great-great aunt or mom so when i see them, it's very meaningful. i guess the scraps will stay in the accordian folder but your new keeper is delightful.
sending hugs your way!

The room is looking great! I love the colors. The banner... what you've done so far... looks super cute too. I got a cricut for Christmas, but with the whirlwind of events this year I have probably only used it 2 times. Hopefully in the fall or after the first of the year I will get to use it more.
Great idea for the cricut 'recipes'. My daughter has a cricut that we got her for her bday. She's been busy with her new baby and toddler so it's put away for awhile! Your room will be so great when it's done. Makes me tired just thinking about it. Mimi
Very pretty paint colors, and no I don't have a circuit cutter and not sure I would know how to use one! LOL HUgs, Diane
Wow!!!! How stunning and inspired. I LOOOOVE the white serving pieces against that beautiful color.
And what a great idea with the "recipe" book. A really great idea!
Don't over-do!!!

*Cute* dress card set for the banner! It'll be cherished, I'm sure! Smart woman, you are...put your man to work, then you go play? LOL I love your collection of white pieces, very elegant. Also, a trick for showing the paint color---just tweek it in a photo-editing program! (No, don't worry, we KNOW it's a beautiful color!) Hugs, Heidi
I had the old teacher type cutter. The big ellison die cut machine. I got tired of storing it and let it go. I adore that color. It looks so similar to the one in my room. Very calming and it works with almost anything. Way to go...I have a ton of unfinished projects...Smiles...Renee
Oooh... how exciting to paint! I want to paint something robin's egg blue, which looks a bit close to the color you chose. I also love the white collection against the wall. You are so much more organized than me!
You have been really busy! Love, love, love the color green you choose.
Joyce, I absolutely love your Cricut creations. You just have a way of combining papers that is so elegant. The notebook is also so very YOU! Dinning room makeover is truly turning out lovely. My next week project is to begin painting my daughter's home. Here's to fresh paint! Elizabeth
Joyce love the color you picked out. It is frustrating to try and take pictures of what we see...and the camera won't capture it...lol
Love the white on the shelf...so refreshing.
I have been decorating the house on wheels.I will be hanging my apron banner you sent me.
Hugs Cindy from Rick-Rack and Gingham
