Swoon!

This week, two things I have been longing for have come home with me.

For almost 2 years, I have been searching for a vintage toy truck to use in a Christmas vignette similar to many I have seen on Pinterest.

It didn't matter if the scale wasn't quite right...I loved the look of the metal trucks carrying a Christmas tree.

My favorite trucks were the white ones, but I knew that it would be harder to find one of those. It didn't matter, red or green would work too. For over a year, I have been scouting yard and estate sales and thrift shops in hopes of finding a suitable truck for a vignette...

Last month, my pal Marie was blogging about Christmas in July and she featured this scene...you can read about it here....and I suddenly became more determined than ever to find a truck. I decided to check eBay and see if there were any there...

VOILA!
The perfect truck...not on an auction but a Buy-It-Now...at a price I could live with. (Some of these old trucks go for upwards of $50!) I bought it and she arrived this week...

The truck is about 6-inches long and almost 3-inches high, with just the right amount of shabbiness...

I'm not in a hurry for Christmas to be upon us but I do know of one cute decoration that will be appearing for the first time at our house!

The other item has been popping up all over Pinterest and also many craft room reveals in magazines and on blogs. It is the Ikea turquoise Raskog Kitchen Cart. (Side note: it is now also available in a charcoal grey which is also nice) Anyway, it became available at Ikea for the first time last Summer. I wanted to see it but every time I went to the store, it was sold out. What makes me chuckle is that Ikea thinks it's a kitchen cart-HA! Any crafter can think of hundreds of uses for this baby outside of the kitchen! So, yesterday I had a meeting with a friend at Ikea. After we were finished discussing some plans for a women's program for our church, I took the time to browse the store. BINGO! They had a big stack of these just waiting for me. It came unassembled, of course, but I know a guy who is pretty handy putting Ikea furniture together and I figured he'd just be happy that it wasn't another Expedit

Here she is!

Each bin is a generous size; approx. 13x17-inches and she's 31-inches tall.

I'm not quite sure how I'm going to use her but I'll let you know when I decide. Right now I'm happy just looking at her!
A good week for sure!

xoxo
