We Were Flocked! Yes, you read that correctly!

The Youth Group (teenagers), of our church, is trying to raise money to be able to attend an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) Youth Gathering in New Orleans in July. (Why anyone would want to be in New Orleans in July is beyond me but I get it...I'm old)
Anyway, right now they are sneaking going around to homes in the parish and Flocking people....
Last Saturday evening, I was passing from the family room to the kitchen when a flash of pink in our front yard caught my eye! I went to the door and saw this crazy flock of flamingos planted there!
The way to get rid of eliminate  a flock of flamingos in your yard is to pay a donation to the Youth Group to have them taken away....and sent to some other unsuspecting yard. It was hard to give them up. They looked so cute and colorful in our freshly mowed lawn that I didn't want them to fly away.
Good Luck kids! We hope you raise lots of money for your trip!
(Is it fair that my husband has better legs than me???)
More pink!!!
Today I went out and cut some peonies before the rain comes and beats them down...

I LOVE peonies...they just don't last long enough for me!

From one Lutheran to another...that is the cutest thing ever...what an genius idea. I have been to New Orleans in the summer and you do not under any circumstance want to be there...in fact you might want to pray to leave that humidity. Smiles...Renee

I remember years and years ago when the ELCA youth conferences were in Virginia Beach...and I thought it was hot THERE! "Flocking" is very popular as a fund raiser. So much easier than 40 bake sales!

Flocking... sounds... interesting. What a surprise!

Your flowers are beautiful. Love the pink and white together.

BTW, I plan on taking a break from my hiatus (for a moment) and posting about the canvas I received. It will probably take about a week, but I -will- do it. :-)

I'd be hard-pressed to give up those flamingoes too. They're so awesome in their tackiness!

Haha,
We used to do this when we were youth group leaders! The last house was always the pastor's!! We always had lots of donations to take them to his lawn and he had to pay to get them removed LOL
I hope they raised lots of money but I agree New Orleans in July!! That has to be crazy hot then!
Hugs,
Lynn
