4th of July Fun

David and I have just returned from a quick 3 day trip to visit Eric and Jane and Charlie and Miles for the 4th of July. It is so much fun to be in a small town type of setting where there is a local parade
and then a picnic to attend.
Before we could walk to the parade however, there was work to be done...
A bike to decorate...

and hats to try on....

Almost everyone got into the 4th of July "hat mode"...

(That is our DIL Jane in the foreground...do you think she's wearing those dark glasses so that
no one knows she's with the crazy woman wearing the sparkler headband???)
On with the parade...

After we marched in 90-degree weather for a while..we returned
home and some commenced to their favorite pastime together...

Other activities during our visit included a big water gun fire truck wash and some squirting each other...

and then more of this activity...

On Tuesday, Aunt Michelle came for a visit...

Always a good sport, she played games and read books..

We packed a lot of fun into those few days...grabbed as many hugs and kisses as we could to last a while...
(Yes, I was there too. It's just hard to get in the photos when you're the one working the camera)
We love you sweet boys!

Be back soon!
xoxo
Joyce

It's quite obvious that a grand time was had by all. Miles is such a cutie and I laughed out loud at the photo of him wearing the hat! Charlie has the most wonderful smile ~ I've loved watching the changes in him. He's definitely a big boy now. Where has the time gone!?

I love that you all have fun together...both playing and the all important resting too! I haven't been to a 4th of July parade since my children were little...I need to track one down around here for next year. I would love to do a little bike decorating with my little ones!

By the way - you look good with sparklers on your head!

Good Morning Joy - Such a beautiful family and wonderful pictures. I'm so glad to see you out and about after your long recovery.
I know Elizabeth said to just make one tag but I'm still making two if you're still up for the swap. Seems like the only papercraft I've gotten done lately is the tag so I'm one who needs a deadline I guess.
Hope you're having a wonderful summer. xoxo Nancy

Joyce,
That was the sweetest bunch of pictures from your gradkids to your dil to your dear husband. He looks like a terrific granddad. I agree, small town fourth is the very best!

Here here on the camera taking thing!!!!! I'm rarely in the pics because I'm always the one snapping away!

This was a precious time for you no doubt. My hubby is from a small Nebraska town but they don't do parades. Not anymore anyway. Still...seeing the red/white/blue wave everywhere was thrilling!

Hello sweet lady! I'm here from another blog - you made her a beautiful banner. I was wondering if you sell them? I'm looking to buy one for outdoors. You are super-talented! I'm also a new follower to your delightful blog. Pop over for a visit sometime.

Hi Joyce,
What a wonderful time you all had. The kids are adorable! Looking at those pictures has me wondering who was having more fun....the little kids or the big kids :)

Joyce!!! It's been so long since I've visited with you! The pics of your family are just wonderful and those babies will never forget decorating their bikes with you. I love your new background and your 4th of July banner in the previous post is awesome, as usual!
Thanks for leaving such sweet comments about my studio, it never usually looks that organized, lol! Did you notice the banner you made for me hanging on the bookshelf? I didn't realize I had hung it so crooked until I saw the pics on my blog. It's such a nice reminder of one of my favorite bloggy friends. Have a wonderful weekend, Nan

Swinging back by to tell you where the Woody Car came from. It was either TJMaxx or Ross a couple of years ago.
Your comment made me smile. Thank you for your enthusiastic reaction. It made me happy because I thought you would get a kick out of it. :-D
