A Random Post..Planters, Peonies & Boys

Vintage buttons displayed in a planter that arrived in my mailbox yesterday!
(Thanks Deb...I love it!)
Peonies from our garden...white and Sarah Bernhardt pink. Every year the rain beats them down before I get a chance to cut and enjoy them. Now, could someone please tell me how to get rid of the ants so I can actually bring them into the house? (Love the Laura Ashley table cover? It's vinyl...oh yes it is, and I found it at Marshalls for $5.99-WOOHOO!)

The ever smiling Miles (age 6.5 months) and always busy Charlie (3.5 years) came for a visit. Miles was charming and made us all laugh a lot and Charlie helped Papa and Daddy plant some tomatoes and herbs for Bam. Digging in the dirt...what could be more fun?

Of course we made time for ice cream but we had to eat fast with temps in the 90's!!
What's that on Charlie's head you ask? His head had a meeting with a wall and he ended up with 11 stitches. Pretty traumatic, although as soon as he got home from the hospital (I stayed behind with Miles) he told me that his stitches looked like train tracks. (Brought back memories of Michelle and Michael as kids. I do need to add that there were more emergency trips with Michelle than with Michael...even with numerous skateboard accidents.....there were special Guardian Angels watching over him I'm sure!)
I hope your weekend was fun!

xoxo
Joyce

PS-I just saw a chance to win this beautiful pillow at Rebecca's blog,  A Gathering Place. While you are there...take some time to browse her blog and also look at the lovlies in her shop here. I would love to win this!

What a wonderful day you had, Joyce! LOVE that planter filled with vintage buttons--an inspiration! Your peonies are gorgeous--always a favorite of mine...don't know what to tell you about the ants, though!

And your sweet grandsons---how adorable! So sorry your older one had to get stitches...looks like he's pretty happy, though!

Hope today is just as lovely for you, my friend!

Hi Joyce,
I absolutely love your beautiful peonies. The ants are another story. :)
Sorry to hear about Charlie's wound, hope that heals real quickly. Miles appears to be quite a cutie pie. Have a wonderful upcoming weekend.

Miles is such a cutie and I love Charlie's comment about the train tracks! He looks so grown-up!

The planter is pretty as is the table cloth. That was a great find!

Katie has several peony bushes in her new yard and she recently picked a bunch of them for her dining room table...she didn't know that the came with ants! Surprise!!

Oh I am so jealous Joyce! Peonies were my Daddy's favorites and he had so many of them. I have never been able to get them to survive here but I am giving it one last try and planted two a few weeks ago. On the other hand, we have already eaten our first tomatoes out of garden and they were yummy! I have a few bell peppers ready to pick too. :) Have a wonderful weekend, xxoo Nan
PS, forgot to say how adorable Charlie and Miles are!

My boys are so infamous for stitches we wanted to put helmets on them all day long. Not to be outdone my daughter quickly swooped in with the most number of stitches and a rod in her arm on the second day of kindergarten for trying to jump off a zip line...Beautiful family. I shake my blooms before I bring them in to get rid of the ants. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. You have to pick them before they are all the way out to do this or you will lose the petals. Glad you are feeling better...Smiles...Renee

Hi Joyce!

It was great hearing from you yesterday! Your blog is beautiful! I have the same peonies - although my "white" are more of a pale pink. I love the deeper pink ones the most though. Hate the ants! Yuck! But I cut some anyway and brought them in today.
Poor Charlie's head! Ouch! But he looks so grown up now, I can't believe it!
Enjoy this wonderful weather! :)

Adorable little grandboys! It seems no one can escape childhood without a stitch or two! Beautiful peonies. Let us know if anyone has a good ant tip. I'd like to bring them into my house too. Mimi
