There is nothing more fun than going on vacation and leaving this behind....
and heading for this.....
We visited our Step-Mom, Bunnie...
did some sightseeing.....riding the Light Rail line...
Going to the Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium....
We also did our share of eating!
One day we met up with some friends for lunch at The Landmark Restaurant
I had a light chicken salad for lunch and then this for dessert....
but of course I always use this in my iced tea.....
to cancel out any calories I might have consumed!
My sister Barb and I spent one delightful day with a sweet, sweet, blogging friend
who I had never met in person....Sandy, of 521 Lake Street.
Instantly upon meeting her, I felt like I had known her for years!
You will need to hop over to Sandy's to see the picture of the 3 of us
because my picture of us was pretty fuzzy.
Sandy, and another friend, gave us the most delightful tour of
some of the many shops in the neighborhood. I wish we would have
had several more hours days to spend with these women! We shopped and talked
and ate and talked and laughed and talked and not once was there a lag in the
conversation. Meeting up with someone whose blog you read, and write to is the
ultimate thrill! I will just post some pictures of the beautiful things I saw...
There are wonderful bronze statues on the main streets and
one of my favorites is this little girl reading her book.
I took the picture above in 2005 when we were here....
and in 2008...
and again this year...
Boy, I hope she finishes that book soon!
We returned home to Pittsburgh and found yet more snow but we are thinking back
to our wonderful trip and our time spent with each other and our new friends.
(left to right: my brother-in-law Dick, my sister Barb, me, Bunnie and sweet David)
I will leave you with a picture that I wish someone would explain to me...
fuel and a massage...that's a new one for me!
This picture is for my sis who wanted a good photo of the two of us....
Hang in there everyone...Spring is on it's way...I hope!
xoxo

Joyce,
I miss you two already!!!! What fun it is thinking about that day! Great photos by the way! I might just pop in some day....I have never been to your hometown! :) Hugs to you both! Sandy
Great pictures, all!!! How fun that you took one of the 'reading girl' each time you went to visit. That last pic of you with the hubbies and "Bunnie" was wonderful. But the very last one is my FAVORITE!!! : )

So glad everyone had a great time. After seeing your photos, I'm starting to miss Arizona. We lived there for 9 months before we moved to Texas. We were in Mesa, and I feel like I would love to take a visit back there now. Have a great week.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. What fun to meet a friend from the land of blog...and in such a bright sun shiny place too! : )
About that dessert and the splenda ~ that's a bit like my french fries and diet coke! Makes total sense to me!!
I love the photos with the dress forms. The colors are great in each one. I wish I looked as good in a scarf as the first form does! The second one is beautiful ~ I've never seen one like that before.
The photos of you and your family (especially the "good photo" of you and your sister made me smile and I thought the photos of the statue were so special...what a great idea to take those. But the "fuel and massage" photo....well, that one just puzzled me! I sure hope someone stops by to explain it!
I'm so glad you had such fun! Thanks for sharing...
It looks like you had a wonderful, warm and fun-filled vacation!!!
Jealous...
It feels so good to find some warm somewhere. We will be traveling to Calif. in a few weeks to find some of our own. Looks like you had a great time. Mimi
Hi Joyce,
Sounds like you had a wonderful trip to see family and friends. I think I need to join some of these swaps you have been in...looks like a lot of fun.
BTW I am one of your swap partners for Miss Rhea's Easter Basket swap. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Kindredly, Lynne Laura
Joyce, where to start? Gorgeous weather and surroundings, lovely family and friends, DESSERT!, and all those fabulous antiques. I would have spent a mint and shipped the whole thing home!!! Wow!! I want to do all that!!!
What fun, Joyce! Wow, that pie!!!! You were able to do so much visiting, what a blessings. Love the pics! ~Hugs, Heidi
I am so glad that you had such a wonderful time and were able to escape all this snow for a while!!! Your pictures are so wonderful. I enlarged them so I wouldn't miss any details. The last picture is priceless--all I can say is sisters, gotta love them :)

Joyce, You are too cute for words. If ever I find myself in Philly!... Your last photo had me chuckling! That sense of humor of yours is so special! So happy you are back safely home. You were missed in the neighborhood dearly. I enjoyed your comment about the uniforms in the Sears catalog. My uniform has a most funny follow up story. I just couldn't let go of those uniforms long after the job had ended! Have a great week! Elizabeth
You are in my neck of the woods! Hope you enjoyed your visit to Phoenix and Mesa...love the Landmark (great salad bar), statues down Main Street and shopping!
