St. Louis you say?
Yes. And why St. Louis? Because the Happy Bird Workshop will be held at the studio of

It has been 3 years and 3 months since I have written anything here. Is it time to return to blogging? I miss the interaction with my friends here, although many share Facebook and Instagram with me.
So what has happened in the past 3+ years? Many of you already know, but for the ones who do not, David died on March 8, 2017. He fought a hard fight with cancer and was actually doing very well Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-59356913367294327922016-01-08T16:55:00.000-05:002016-01-08T16:55:37.600-05:00Update on David
I last wrote about David in June, shortly before his surgery.
I won't go into a lengthy discussion about what a roller coaster ride this has been, but I do want to let you know that the surgery that he had in June, was a good news/bad news story. The Doctors removed 1/3 of his stomach, several centimeters of his esophagus and 18 lymph nodes (3 of which were malignant). There was another Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-52597184754948761192016-01-01T15:15:00.000-05:002016-01-01T15:15:20.630-05:00Happy New Year!!I'm just sticking my toe in the blogging ocean to see how it feels to be connected with friends in my bloggy circle. I've missed you all and have tried to visit when I could. I'd sure like to get back to this and swapping again...does anybody still do that?? Hope so! Anyway, I'll be posting soon to bring you up to date with our adventures here in Delaware, but for now...I wish you all Peace, Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-79525785835126005932015-06-16T21:52:00.000-04:002015-06-16T21:52:41.588-04:00A Gift of Love and an update
One day in April, a package came in the mail for me.
The return address said it was from A Swap For All Seasons.
I couldn't imagine what it could be.
I had dropped out of the year long swap with my beloved swap buddies in March...after we had gotten David's cancer diagnosis and treatment plan.
To give you some back story, I have swapped pretty steadily with this group for a number of years...Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com18tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-62571000875054019732015-03-12T17:24:00.001-04:002015-03-12T17:24:26.142-04:00This Man

Hello dear friends!
I could write about 50 pages about where I have been and what I have been doing since my last blog post, 5 months ago, but I have lots of fun things to share and it's time to move forward!
I participated in two Swaps this month and I have pictures to sort through and a post to write about them. We had a small trip to Maryland to visit our Grandsons and also to see and old Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-70947507541581656552014-09-11T18:04:00.000-04:002014-09-11T18:04:28.067-04:00We Are Connected! A Swap For All Seasons...September...Halloween
This past weekend, our son Eric, DIL Jane and our two Grandsons came for a visit to see the new house. Eric did so much to help his Dad! He was up and down the ladder, putting things away in high places...carrying heavy items from one place to another, connecting the computer and TVs, and then even mowed the lawn!!! So much was accomplished that would have taken us weeks to do. We have gotten a Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-11628322694682536482014-09-01T18:29:00.000-04:002014-09-01T18:29:23.661-04:00What is Normal? As I've mentioned many times, our summer has been consumed with activities surrounding moving from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvanis to Millsboro, Delaware....8 Miles from Rehoboth Beach. We are happy. We are excited. We are looking forward to decorating and foofifying our new home. But mostly.....
WE ARE EXHAUSTED!!!!

We are heavily into the work of packing up our house to move.
The movers come on August 22nd.
We close on our house here on August 25th.
We move into our new home in Delaware on August 27th....although our belongings may not arrive until the beginning of September, depending on how many stops our truck has to make.
To offset the stress and manual labor of the move, I have continued to Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-42289755561857659212014-07-13T00:05:00.000-04:002014-07-13T00:05:00.074-04:00About the Mary Engelbreit, Trash To Treasure Chair.
I have been looking through photos stored on my computer, making sure that I have pictures of all of the rooms of our home before it all gets dismantled in preparation of the MOVE.
I came across pictures of a project I have never shared here before and I thought you might like to see it. The Trash to Treasure Chair. A number of years ago I took a furniture painting class. We continue through the year with our monthly swaps at A Swap For All Seasons.
July's theme was Share a Smile and the color for the destash was purple. Even though our card and tag do not have to be the color of the month, I find that I tend to use that monthly color in my creating. These swaps have enabled me to expand my color palette.....some of the colors we use are not ones I would Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-45952673646360792772014-06-30T06:57:00.001-04:002014-06-30T06:57:53.080-04:00Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!
Dear Friends,
If you have been following my blog for any length of time, (and at this point I'm sure a lot of people have given up on me because of lack of any posts here) you know that my word for 2014 has been
DECIDE
I mentioned in January that this would be a year of decisions.
We (David and I) decided, at the beginning of the year, to sell our house in Pittsburgh and relocate to DelawareScrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-39469957348651228382014-06-11T12:27:00.003-04:002014-06-11T12:27:54.348-04:00A Swap For All Seasons-June-A Guy Thing
We're rolling along in our year long swap with A Swap For All Seasons. This month the theme was A Guy Thing. Each month our swap package consists of a card, a tag and some specific color destash. The month's colors were black and gray.
My "send to" partner was Elizabeth of Tales From The Pond. Elizabeth's blog makes you feel like you're sitting at her kitchen table having a chat. My treats for Marie, of Spun By Me, in the May swap for A Swap For All Seasons.. Marie is a dear, dear friend, and we have been partners in many swaps over the years. I was so happy that I was going to be able to create for her this month!

My gifts from Marti
The theme for the month of May, in A Swap For All Seasons monthly swap, was Weddings! It was a delightful theme! Each month, Linda, our fearless leader, reminds us that we need to make and send a card, a tag and some small bit of stash from our personal hoards collections.
This month, my "donor" was Marti of Artful Curiosities. (click her blog name to visit her blog) I sent a swap packageScrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-42486704871779251362014-04-22T07:03:00.000-04:002014-04-22T07:03:10.655-04:00Carrots!
As many of you know....I collect carrots.
Why?
Around Easter time, you can see myriad bunnies and chicks and decorated eggs. Some years ago, while I was shopping for some new Spring/Easter decorating items, I saw a bunch of carrots. That was different....not the run of the mill. And thus, a collection was started. They're easier to find nowadays but I'm picky about the ones I choose to bringScrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-49791794671724683752014-04-20T07:17:00.000-04:002014-04-20T07:17:04.494-04:00Wishing you...

Is that title a little confusing? My "send to friend" for April was May...hahaha, it does sound odd. There is nothing odd about dear May. She is a talented paper crafter and I was delighted to be given her name to create for. Her blog,
May's Happy Daze is a place you should visit to see some lovely work.

In the past month I have taken 2 card classes at Stamp Fanci, our local rubber stamp store. I have said on numerous occasions that I'm grateful for this store, owned by Margie, because it is the only independent stamp/scrapbook shop within 25 miles. Stamp Fanci has a wide assortment of stamps and stamping supplies and enough beautiful patterned papers to keep both the stampers and the scrapbook Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-77455213839744320142014-03-30T15:25:00.000-04:002014-03-30T15:25:11.128-04:00Prayer Board
I can't believe it's been almost a month since I've posted...things have been pretty busy at our house.
We are trying to clean out and reorganize the whole place and believe me, it is daunting! I'll write more about our progress at another time.
Today, I wanted to share our prayer board with you.
A number of years ago, I decided that I didn't like having all of the photos we received Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-3992974812211558552014-03-04T07:24:00.000-05:002014-03-04T07:24:08.024-05:00Swap Treats For Francie-A Swap For All Seasons
Continuing our journey through the year with A Swap For All Seasons, the swap group I've been in since last September, March's theme was Spring and the destash color was yellow. Spring offered us a variety of possibilities including St. Patrick's Day, Easter and of course, the season itself. I decided to do a little something including all three.
My card for Francie featured a Spring Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-55760676440343474162014-03-03T10:46:00.000-05:002014-03-03T10:47:14.045-05:00A Swap For All Seasons-March.... My gifts from Jan
Well, I think all of us in the US (at least the Midwest and East Coast) are about fed up with Winter this year. I know we have had over 55-inches here in Southwest Pennsylvania. But consider my new friend, Jan Smith, of Jan's Arty Junk. She lives in the UK where they have been having record rainfalls and flooding. On Valentine's Day, we were invited to a friend's home for dinner. There were 3 couples and our sweet hostess, in addition to preparing a wonderful meal that included lobster tails, gave each one of us a cute bucket of chocolates. (Yeah, I should have thought to take that picture 6 days ago when there was still chocolate left!) In addition to the candy, the other female guest and I were given a Scrap for Joyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11198495711815578352noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-436768472590871033.post-60724143788784586002014-02-19T19:22:00.000-05:002014-02-19T19:25:40.384-05:00Pinned It and Ate It
We had some friends over for dinner last evening...kind of an impromptu thing. I thought I would try some new recipes for our meal.
This was kind of the last Hurrah! for Valentine's Day before I pack up the decorations.
I decided on the menu and two dishes came from Pinterest.
For the main course I made
Meatball Stroganoff
from Julie May of Menu Musings of a Modern American Mom.
