Sweet or Sinister? A Halloween Tag Swap!

I had a wonderful time last week with my big sis in Chatham, NJ and my sweet daughter in Jersey City. Barb & I shopped at Home Goods (my all time favorite store and we don't have one in Pittsburgh-grrr!) and TJ Maxx, lunched out, visited with my talented and creative niece Wendi and her daughter Fiona and husband Jim. Then on to Jersey City for 3 days with Michelle....my whirlwind daughter. Michelle lives in JC but travels back and forth to NYC for work, shopping, meeting up with friends and church just like you or I would drive to the closest Mall or restaurant. I was on so many trains, subways, buses and cabs I couldn't keep track. I will share some pictures of my travels soon (we visited some awesome places and had big fun!)but for now I have to get rid of the nasty and evil flu bug I picked up somewhere in my travels. I came home sick and have been laying low all week.
Being home this week enabled me to finish up my tags for the Sweet & Sinister Halloween Tag Swap. I'm already late in mailing them but they will go out tomorrow. I thought that I would share the pictures....
You know I can't do anything without having some fun with it. The theme was to make 17, 2-sided tags...one side representing the sweet side of  Halloween and the other a more sinister side. When my swap partners see my tags, they will have to draw their own conclusions. First of all, this is what my work table looked like while I was creating the tags...

I knew that I wanted to do one side in pink...that certainly sounds sweet, right? But don't be too sure about that. You know the "don't judge a book by it's cover" line...

A cute little imp sitting on a pink pumpkin....wearing a black mask and "hanging" out with a creepy spider. While on the other side of the tag is a woman dressed in black with a pumpkin on her head...

Notice that her sign says "cute as a pumpkin" while the pink fairy says "small but spooky".
(The pumpkin is attached with a small brad so you can move that gourd
out of the way to reveal her real face)

So the question is
Sweet and Sinister....witch is witch?
I'll be back with more pictures soon.....but first, chicken soup!

Oh my goodness!! These are so sweet (and sinister)~ they are sure to be a huge hit!!

I'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well ~ too many nasty bugs going around. I'm doing all I can to keep the germs away from here. I don't want Bill's 91 year old Dad catching anything. I hope you're getting a good bit of rest! I am glad to hear that you had a great time with friends and family. I meant to comment on your previous post about how pretty Michelle is. I can't wait to hear about all your big fun!

ok - first things first, if you aren't feeling better by tomorrow, I'M calling the doctor for you! Now that that's been said.....your tags turned out amazing!! I just love the twist on the theme, and the "witch is witch"! So very clever, and so very you ;) You are always so good at finding just the right images and pairing them with just the right paper and stamps! They turned out beautiful...or should I say, Sweet AND Sinister!!

So sorry to hear you're under the weather. I hope you'll bounce back soon. But I was glad to read that you had a wonderful time. I knew you would and am looking forward to the pics from your trip.
I am in LOVE LOVE LOVE with your Lori Mitchell figure. What a hoot! I LOVE everything she does!
Oh, and about the little dress coats...one of my favorite things about the re-make of 'Miracle on 34th Street' is that all the children waiting in line for Santa are wearing beautiful dress coats. : ) Silly, huh?
And kudos to you for these delightful Halloween tags. They're amazing!
Take care,
M.L.

Aunt Joyce, I love how these turned out! Is that the vintage photo that you found at the antiques center that you used to make the pumpkin-head lady?
Fiona and I started putting together my snow day wish faeries today and they are looking really cute. I'm using that textured snow paint on the jar lids...I'm totally in love with the stuff and need to figure out more ways to use it! Now I need to create tags to go with them. What do you used to adhere paper to tags when you are putting them together?
p.s. Come see my FB page to see how my owls are turning out...
Hope you're all better by the time you read this!

Joyce - these are really cute! (Or sinister!) I'm not sure which! I like both sides!
I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. My kids are both sick now too, and I hate it. It seems to bring the entire mood down. :( Blah. I hope you get better soon!

So sorry to hear you have been struck with a nasty flu bug. I hope you are getting better. It sounds like you had such a wonderful time on your trip. Any day that includes shopping and lunching is fun in my book!

I can't tell you how much I love your tags. They turned out just so cute. Your idea for the witch is witch is so cute. Once again, I am in awe of your paper work! So inspiring.

Now, go get that chicken soup and get better, my friend!

Joyce, Your tag is a work of art! The way the pumpkin face moves to reveal it's occupant is genius! I wanted to tell you to be sure and visit Paula Clare's to see the wonderful Halloween tag book she made. It's quite inspiring, and I thought you would enjoy. Hope you feel well soon. Blessings, E

Joyce, my surprise tags came today! Thank you so very much for them. I have oogled over them more than once on your blog, let me tell you! Your Halloween banner is just wonderful. I spy M.L.House of Whimsey creations. She is just the most amazing artist and the sweetest of people. I believe your banner motto applies to me now, mostly because of you! Thanks for all you share! Joyce, I am so excited to tell you about a new K&Co line at Michaels if you haven't already discovered it. It is a Victorian Christmas line that is so richly colorful, I just know you will love it! I bought the embellishments as they were being hung, the paper hadn't come in yet. Your work has inspired me to look in this direction. I can't wait to hear what you think about it. Have a great weekend! E
